Welcome Message

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure and an honor to extend to you a warm invitation to attend the “International Conference on Minimally Invasive Surgery & NOTES”, to be held on March 1st & 2nd, 2018 at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche Hotel, United Arab Emirates.

The theme of the 2018 Conference “(R)evolutions in Minimally Invasive and Thyroid Surgery” will underpin the most recent innovations in minimally invasive surgery and NOTES in general and in thyroid surgery in particular. This year’s special focus on thyroid surgery comes in parallel with the worldwide breakthrough and clinical implementation of the totally scarless transoral thyroidectomy, a technique developed in 2008 in Berlin under the auspices of the New European Surgical Academy (NESA).

Our two-day conference will consist of expert keynote lectures, breakthrough sessions and surgical videos performed by master international surgeons to help our surgeons provide better patient care. We aim to bring a comprehensive look at new techniques and technologies, in addition to offering valuable insights into the future of the constantly evolving minimally invasive surgery field.

Besides the brand-new transoral neck surgery, this event will also explore the frontiers of intrauterine minimally invasive fetoscopy interventions during pregnancy and the development of the new robotic generation. There will be endless opportunities for participants to learn from worldwide leading experts who shape the future of minimally invasive surgeries. This unique event is a fertile ground for the development of academic and research relationships that advance the practice of surgery for all involved.

Abu Dhabi as the capital city of United Arab Emirates and as the rest of the other emirates has captivating culture, breath-taking luxury, exhilarating adventure and the warmth of the Arabian hospitality. Moreover, Abu Dhabi‘s “Culture District” on Saadiyat Island, which will be home to Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, makes the emirate a global cultural center. During your visit, you will discover that you will not be short of things to do from touring the awe-inspiring Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, to feeling the adrenaline rush while challenging the world’s fastest roller coaster in the largest indoor theme park, to taking a stroll in the relaxing Al Ain Oasis, to feeding the animals in the Emirate’s engaging zoos, or to having a great day out on the UAE capital’s landmark, the Corniche Road.

In terms of weather, Abu Dhabi enjoys a subtropical climate with sunshine almost every day, winter being the best time for a visit. Daytime temperatures rest comfortably in the mid 20s°C (70s°F ) — ideal conditions for exploring the Emirate's top attractions or lounging on the beach.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all participants, sponsors, exhibitors, supporting organizations and all the committee members who will make our conference successful.

Please mark your calendars the dates of the “International Conference on Minimally Invasive Surgery & NOTES”, so that you may join your colleagues and friends in what we hope will be an outstanding meeting.

Sincerely,

Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa
